Used Car Dealer Scams – 5 Tips on How to Protect Yourself From Used Car Dealer Scams

Used car dealer scams do happen and while there are a lot of dealers with high integrity who are interested in making you a good deal, you must also get the insider information about car dealerships so you can protect yourself and your money.

This article shares 5 tips you must know to protect yourself from used car dealer scams.

1.  “This offer is only good today.”  This might be the most commonly used trick.  The dealer wants you to buy today because they are afraid if you go home and think about it you will start to see that the deal is not so great.  The true inside scoop is that the salesman wants to sell you a car and will be more than happy to sell the car to you tomorrow, go home and sleep on it.

2.  A good upfront deal might not be great by the end.  Your salesman might make you a great deal on the cost of the used car only to turn around and attach a bunch of over-priced extras.  These extras give more benefit to the salesman than to you, refuse all extras as a safe rule of thumb.

3.  Buy now!  It is in the sales agents best interest to get you to purchase as soon as possible.  If you feel pressured to buy before you are ready you can go somewhere else.

4.  The Salesman’s first offer will be high.  The salesman will start negotiations high so it is up to you to start your negotiations low, this way you can meet in the middle at an acceptable price.

5.  Some sales are unadvertised.  Ask for any unadvertised sales, these might not be revealed to the public because they don’t favor the salesman but by asking you might uncover a gem.

Used car dealer scams do happen but you don’t have to be a victim.  Arm yourself with insider information and you will walk away with a great deal.

Lo and behold–an American horror film worth dying for!, February 22, 2010
    By
    C. Christopher Blackshere “Mackshere” (hampered by what’s acceptable) –
This review is from: Lo (DVD)

Holy!?!? Is it truly possible? A demonically horrific comedy that is hellbent of all earthly cinematic formulas? One that grips what’s left of your gooey feeble little mind that’s been hammered by the onslaught of money-grabbing horror remakes and destroys all preconceptions? Why yes! There is a slight glimmer of hope for American horror.

It’s been summoned to the screen by director/writer Travis Betz. Using a wicked book of spells and chants, a love-stricken boyfriend calls upon the demon Lo to help him retrieve his beloved woman, who was snatched from his bedroom by another foul and mysterious creature. Lo has an agenda of his own, as all demons are naturally inclined to rape, torture, and devour anything in sight. So we’ve got an evil game of tug o’ war, or perhaps a devilish chess match.

Lo plays mind games while hurling insults at his new master. He also projects his own mental images on the wall of his interpretations of the couples past. It plays out like an absurd Broadway play, funny as all hell and definitely strange.

I must admit at first I was disappointed when seeing this horribly evil and frightening looking demon crack jokes and spread on the extreme sarcasm. I’d love to see Lo in a straight-up horror film. But, there were just too many hilarious moments for me to hold a grudge. Way too fun!

Lo has to be one of the most original and entertaining horror films to come out ever. There will be hell to pay if you miss this great independent flick. Madness, I tell you. Madness!

A movie I almost shut off but am very glad I didn’t, May 1, 2010

Anywhere you see reviews for this movie there are many very high ratings and many very low ratings. This isn’t because it is a movie you either love or hate. The people who give it low ratings tend to have not finished the movie. There is a scene about 20 min in that almost made me shut it off. The acting was terrible (though deliberately terrible) and the weird faces (if you’ve seen the movie you know what I mean) just annoyed me. If my friend hadn’t been there making me finish it I probably would have stopped watching and never thought of the movie again. As it is I’m giving it a 5 star rating the day after I first saw it and I want to watch it again.

If you are reading this and trying to decide if you want to watch Lo then stop reading reviews or anything else about the movie now. The best way to watch this movie is just to turn it on without knowing anything other than that it is worth finishing.

So much better than a Gloworm!, April 25, 2008

My husband wanted to get our baby a Gloworm. His desire was based on what he remembered of them from many years ago. The current Gloworms are not nearly as nice as they used to be – they play loud music and aren’t nearly as cute.

When I found the Soothe and Glow Seahorse I was so happy! Firstly, it’s cute, much cuter than the Gloworm models. Secondly, the music and sounds are also much much better – the music is quality and the volume can be adjusted. The sea sounds are a nice touch as well.

Unlike the Gloworm, the Soothe and Glow Seahorse actually does help baby wind down with it’s gentle music and ocean sounds. I would recommend this toy any day.

You can turn off the music easily, April 25, 2008

I purchased this seahorse around January 2008. I almost returned it because, although it’s nice that the music plays for around 5 minutes (we timed 6 1/2 minutes), I didn’t want to keep it if there wasn’t a way to easily turn off the music without it playing all the way through. There is no mention anywhere on the box or in the manual that you can turn off the music other than by going inside the velcro and turning off the on/off switch (and who would want to do that and wake up the sleeping baby with the loud velcro?) Then, by accident, we found that if you press and hold the seahorse’s chest for several seconds the music will gently fade and turn off. I called Fisher-Price and let them know so hopefully they’ll add this information to the box and manual soon. It’s a bit “head heavy” which makes it a little hard to handle. It’s not machine washable like the original Gloworm, only “surface washable”. Great product overall. It’s so darn cute.

We first bought a gloworm. Piece of junk if you ask me. The Soothe & Glow Seahorse is FANTASTIC! It plays music for 5 minutes as well as soothing ocean sounds like waves & bubbles. My kids love it! It was purchased for my now 4 month old (we bought him the gloworm originally that hardly played a song despite following all the directions)but my 20 month old is constantly stealing it to soothe him to sleep as well. This makes putting my kids to bed a piece of cake I never have to struggle to get my 20 month old in bed he just jumps right in as long as I have glowie the seahorse!
